Sock Patterns

Paragon Socks

Paragon Socks were designed as a holiday gift for my mom. They’re top-down lacy, textured socks. The pattern works up quickly and is written for two sizes (64-st and 72-st sizes), suitable for men or women. The pdf includes both charted and written instructions. I’m quite pleased with them and can’t wait to give them to my mom! 🙂

Bernoulli Socks

Named for the Bernoulli Principle: the relationship between the velocity and pressure exerted by a moving liquid; as the velocity of a fluid increases, the pressure exerted by that fluid decreases. I thought this was fitting because this top-down lace pattern features 4 differently sized faux-cable, moving at different “velocities”. Pattern is written for 64- and 70-st sizes.

Pythagoras Socks

Pattern now available. Top-down construction, available in two sizes (64-st and 72-st), uses lace and texture to create a pattern that, for some reason, reminds me of geometry – hence the name. 😀

Adventure Socks

I’m pretty excited about this one, so here it goes…

Remember those “Choose your own adventure books” from years ago? Perhaps I’m dating myself, but I thought they were great and I thought, what if I can design a sock with that in mind? This pattern is the result.

This pattern is for a top-down sock that comes with fourdifferent charted stitch patterns: 1) Deep into the forest (photo 3, right-hand side), 2) Look behind the waterfall (photo 4, left-hand side), 3) Under the ogre’s bridge (photo 4, right-hand side), and 4) Down into the canyon (photo 3, left-hand side). You can use one stitch pattern four times around the sock, or you can work all four charts one time each (like me!). You can make symmetrical socks or completely unsymmetrical ones – the end result is entirely up to you!!! Depending on the kind of sock “adventure” you’d like to have!

So four charts, one pattern means you can make numerous different pairs of socks from this one design (which is also why it’s a bit more expensive than my other patterns). Anyway, I really enjoyed creating this one and have ideas for at least two other “Adventure Socks” – ENJOY!!!.

ERRATA: I guess I forgot to say what “X” is in the key. “X” means ktbl.

Doppelganger Socks

It is a top-down sock, and it comes with TWO charted patterns – one you see here (chart 1) and its doppelganger (hence the name), the same stitch patterns but combined in a different way. You can choose one or the other, or use one of each – it’s entirely up to you. Also, the pattern is made using wrapped stitches and psso’s, so no cabling required at all for this pattern.

ERRATA: The blank boxes in the chart are knit stitches.

Gretya Socks

Pattern includes charts and instructions for 64-st and 72-st sizes.

They are top-down socks and work up very quickly. Simple yet interesting pattern that I think will show off all yarns, from solid to very colorful. Enjoy!

Irate Squirrel Socks

So, you’re probably wondering about the title of this one, here’s the story. My former roommate is a bit wacky, and among her quirks is her belief that it is very important to let squirrels know when you see them. Typically this is how this is done: When you see a squirrel on the side of the road, she feels you should shake your fist in the air and yell, “I see you squirrel!” I know this sounds crazy, but it’s really rather hilarious. This fist-shaking is also done for kitty cats, who, much like squirrels, take themselves way too seriously.

This is a top-down sock with a garter cuff, the little leaves run down the center of the foot, with little acorns on the side. I took shots of both so you could see them.

Techniques/Stitches Used in this pattern:
ptbl, ssk, k2tog, yo, k3tog, twisted rib (with and without increases), chart reading

Paisley Socks

Random fact about me: I LOVE paisley. I don’t know why, but I do and have done for a long time now. I am also determined to figure out how to knit cables in a paisley pattern to make myself a cardigan with the design. Alas, I have yet to figure it out (but I WILL!!!). In the mean time, this design sort of reminded me of paisley (hence the name).

It’s a top-down sock, with no cabling involved. It’s all twisted stitches, increases and decreases. Yet it swirls around quite nicely if I do say so myself. Pattern includes charts and instructions for 64-st and 72-st sizes.

I love knitting socks & found your website while looking for more Misti alpaca tonos carnaval yarn. What a delight your patterns appear to be & should work up beautifully with that yarn. Just deciding which pattern to begin with is a challenge.
